Asthma Attacks

Well, I found out today that I have got a little bit of a problem. I've got asthma. I mean, I did before, when I was seven years old, but haven't had an attack for nearly seven years. And I think I know why...

Last night, I had a wicked bad wheeze/ cough. I don't mean to sound all gross, but there was no phlegm coming up. Mom thought that I was just too scared to cough it up, which was probably true. She made me some green tea, and I went to bed fine last night.

When I woke up, I felt absolutely fine. I got to sleep in thanks to school being canceled because of the snowstorm the previous day. Everything was going normal, until my lungs refused to breathe. I was scared to death, not sure how I long I could go without inhaling fluently. Dad had left, taking our Ford Explorer with him for the morning.

Thankfully there is a paramedic who lives next door to us, and brought over an oxygen tank. I could finally breathe (well somewhat,). She also brought albuterol and a few movies ;) Dad came back, and the closest appointment that the doctor's had was 2:45pm. I had a few more breaths with the oxygen tank here and there when I needed it, and went to the doctor.

As soon as I had stepped out of that house, I felt better. Mom pointed out that I had been stuck inside for two days, with no fresh air thanks to the horrendous snow storm. The fresh air was relieving. By the time I got to the doctor's, I had no more wheezing, and my breath was there. Short and loud, but there.

The doctor's office was itty-bitty tiny. It wasn't even inside a hospital. It was in a little house across from the post office and next to the Subway restaurant in downtown Browns Mills. It was baby blue everywhere, and was definitely cozy in there. Once brought to the patient's room itself, I noticed a familiar painting. it was one of the covered bridges in New Hampshire. The doctor is a vacationer on Lake Winnepesaukee! His favorite restaurant was the Wolfeboro Inn! Wow! It really is a small world!!!

But anyways, he gave me a couple inhalers and a tablet to take everyday called Singular. We all think that the house is what is causing the problem. But the fact that there is something to help control it is great!!!

  1. I feel so bad that you had to go through that! But i guess hat is just the way life goes, and you know you have someone right be your side, so everything will be alright.
